Construction begins on new Tampa deepwater marina
South Tampa will soon be home to Tampa’s largest new deep-water marina. Real estate development and land investment firm BTI Partners has started construction of the 150-slip full-service marina able to accommodate large vessels. The marina will be part of the 52-acre Westshore Marina District – a vibrant mixed-use community – on Westshore and Gandy Boulevard on Old Tampa Bay across from St. Petersburg.
The marina is located on the doorstep of Marina Pointe, a luxury condominium development currently under way in Westshore Marina District. With unrestricted access to Tampa Bay, the marina will serve vessels from 40 to more than 100 feet in length and provide owners with concierge boat services, a full-time dockmaster and other curated amenities designed to complement a boating lifestyle.
“The marina will be a great asset to Marina Pointe, making it Florida’s best new development for boaters,” said Dominic Pickering, BTI Partner’s Director of Sales, Central Florida Division. “Our vision was to provide condo owners an unmatched opportunity to have their boats right on their doorstep and enjoy unparalleled access to the largest new deep-water marina under construction in the region. In addition to offering an extraordinary waterfront lifestyle, Marina Pointe is within walking distance of boutique shopping, dining and retail services in the ever-growing Westshore neighborhood.”
Boaters will also be able to dock at the marina to dine and shop at Westshore Marina District, which will be home to a boat up waterfront restaurant and specialty retailers including Sand Surf Co, Cru Cellars, Crave Spa, Salon Color Bar, Duckweed Urban Market, DRNK coffee + tea and QWENCH juice bar among others.
Additionally, Galati Yacht Sales brokers will also open their new showroom on the ground floor of Marina Pointe, showcasing leading brands such as Viking, Princess and Maritimo. Galati will feature displays in its office space and boats in the marina’s deep-water slips.
“We are excited that the marina is underway. There is a lot of demand for deep-water marinas, and our clients will have access to the largest one in the region right outside of our sales gallery,” said Darren Plymale, COO of Galati Yacht Sales, which will open a world-class sales gallery at Marina Pointe. “We’re also looking forward to serving the boating community that is sure to flock to Marina Pointe and Westshore Marina District. This is an important development for people who embrace and celebrate the waterfront lifestyle.”
“Marina Pointe and the marina are putting Tampa’s sprawling waterfront on the map,” said Noah Breakstone, CEO of BTI Partners. “Tampa’s waterfront is no longer Florida’s best kept secret. Its bay views, land availability and pent up demand for waterfront living has put Tampa in the driver’s seat of smart development in Florida. Westshore Marina District, home to our mixed-use residential community with the only new deep-water marina in Tampa – St. Pete, is a great example. Our project has opened up the waterfront to Tampa residents to enjoy all the activities and experiences that Tampa Bay has to offer.”
Westshore Marina District is being developed in phases, with BTI Partners as the master developer and developer of Marina Pointe. Residential developers, such as the Related Group and Bainbridge, have recently welcomed their first residents to their new high-end apartment buildings within the district. WCI Communities is about to begin closing on their townhomes, and Marina Pointe’s first tower has very strong pre-sales. Once the master planned community and neighboring residential projects are completed, the area will have nearly 2,400 new residences, injecting new life into the waterfront.
