Westshore Marina District, Water Street Tampa hit milestones
The Westshore Marina District’s retail town square has attracted some high-end businesses that should feed each other customers.
The mixed-use community’s master developer, BTI Partners, has announced that DRNK coffee and tea and QWENCH juice bar, dual-branded businesses based in California, have selected Marina Landings for their first Florida location.
“It combines two daily uses into one space, which is unique and allows us to do more with other storefronts in the town center,” says Britney Mroczkowski the VP of business development for BTI Partners.
Tampa’s Crave Spa, a full-service spa offering nail services, facials and more, and Salon Color Bar, a high-end hair salon with a location in St. Petersburg, will also open next door to one another in Marina Landings.
“They’re both beauty concepts but their services complement one another and don’t overlap,” Mroczkowski says.
BTI Partners is in the process of securing permits to start construction on Marina Landings and plans to have the town square open in the first quarter of 2020. Mroczkowski says the focus has been on attracting high-end tenants that Westshore Marina residents and visitors will use frequently.
In May, Fort Lauderdale-based BTI Partners named Tampa boutique grocer Duckweed Urban Market as the first announced retail tenant in the town square. A wine bar, a surf and marina shop, dessert concepts and several restaurants are also in the pipeline for the retail heart of the 52-acre waterfront community near the Tampa side of the Gandy Bridge.
Water Street Tampa
In downtown Tampa, the 56-acre Water Street Tampa mixed-use development has had a spate of large announcements, including a planned Publix GreenWise Market that is slated to open in 2021. The natural organic and specialty market fits with developer Strategic Property Partners’ focus on health and wellness throughout the community.
New Publix opens in August 2019 in Channel District.Less than a mile away in the Channel District, a traditional Publix Supermarket is slated to open adjacent to the Channel Club at 7 a.m. on Aug. 15, a Publix spokesman says. Publix also has plans to convert a GreenWise in Hyde Park to a traditional store but there is not a timeline for that, the spokesman says.
The progress at the multi-billion Water Street development has also included the start of construction on 1001 Water Street, a 20-story mixed-use building that will offer approximately 380,000 square feet of office space and retail and the topping out of the 26-story JW Marriott Tampa scheduled to open in late 2020.
